Winter hike from Marquartstein up to Hochgern
This winter hike is not without its challenges. From Marquartstein we walk up to the summit of the Hochgern via the Agergschwendalm and the Hochgernhaus. We have to climb a few metres, but are rewarded with a magnificent view.
Up to the Hochgernhaus, the trail runs mainly on forest and farm tracks; short sections are on steep tracks. From the Hochgernhaus, the snow conditions determine our further progress. If there is too much snow and the path to the summit is not groomed, only experienced hikers with snowshoes and telescopic poles should venture the ascent. Otherwise, the trail is strenuous but beautiful and is rewarded with a magnificent view at the top at 1748m. Both the Agergschwendalm and the Hochgernhaus are staffed at weekends.
