Schon vom Parkplatz aus bietet sich ein wundervoller Blick auf den Watzmann und die Berge daneben. Nach kurzem Stück mit freiem Blick geht es dann auf dem gut ausgebauten Waldweg mal mehr mal weniger Steil hinauf zum Toten Mann. Zwischendurch immer wieder Lücken mit Blick auf die umliegenden Berge. Mach Abstecher zum Toten Mann geht es dann zum Hochschwarzeck auf dessen Plateau man bei freiem Blick einen grandiosen Blick auf die Berge herum hat. Wer den teilweise steilen Abstieg bis zur Waldstraße scheut, kann auch mit dem Sessellift nach unten fahren. Zu Fuß benötigt man ca. eine halbe Stunde zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.
