Teufelsgasse in Kirchdorf in Tirol

It is exciting to hike to the legendary Teufelsgasse in Gasteig near Kirchdorf. The gorge at the Leerberg inveigles everyone. As a hiking destination, the Teufelsgasse is a real insider tip; one which sets the adventurer's heart in children and adults alike racing. The car park at the start of the hike is located in the town of Hinterberg near Gasteig in Kirchdorf and is easy to get to by car. The Teufelsgasse is the place to head to from here. At the start you have an ascent of some 40 minutes via a forest road ahead of you. There is then a forest trail to the gorge at the plateau of the Leerberg. Follow the red/white marked stones.

'According to legend, the devil himself beat a labyrinth into the rock which looked like a street, in order to lead sinners and their souls astray. Lots of his poor victims carved their names in the soft rock faces in desperation, letting those they had left behind and friends know of their fate. Attentive hikers can still sense these lost souls in Teufelsgasse and their lamentations and cries can still be heard at times today.'
