The varied tour around Lake Tegernsee offers us an impressive experience of nature. On the signposted cycle paths we pass several bathing beaches and places to stop for refreshments.

Turn-by-turn directions

From Tegernsee Castle we start our bike tour around the legendary Tegernsee. The lake is about 7.5 kilometres long, 2.5 kilometres wide and up to 72 metres deep. From the lakeshore we cycle to the Tegernsee fishery and the marina. Behind the fishery we keep to the right and continue on the cycle path along the B 307. After a few metres we turn right again. Follow the large signposts „Zur Point – Zur Ruderfähre Kiosk mit Seeterrasse“. Over a small wooden bridge and past the shipyard facilities of the Bayerische Seenschifffahrt at Lake Tegernsee, we reach the Point peninsula. We cycle along the bathing beach to the kiosk and from here further to the left up to the beach volleyball facility and the Kleiner Paraplui. Passing the sports field and a small car park, we reach the B 307 again. We keep to the right and cycle a short distance along the Via Bavarica Tyrolensis to Rottach Egern. This cross-border cycle path runs the full length from Munich's Museum Island to Wiesing in the Inn Valley in Austria. In Rottach Egern we turn right into Seestraß and follow the blue and yellow signpost „Tegernsee-Rundweg“ with the number 32. Shortly afterwards we reach the park and the lakeside promenade of Rottach Egern. Passing the church of St. Laurentius and the boat rental, we finally reach the Hotel Überfahrt. From here we cycle along Ganghoferstrasse until we reach the turn-off for Kobellstrasse. Our path now branches off from the tarmac road to the right and we continue on a gravel path. We continue along several bathing areas until we reach a large sunbathing lawn with a playground, beach volleyball facilities and a kiosk. We keep to the left, following the signs „Fußweg nach Bad Wiessee“, and drive past the kiosk to the bridge ückeber die Weissach. Cross the bridge and cycle along the river on the other side until you reach the Deutsche Alpenstraße (B 318). There we turn right onto the cycle path and continue to Ringsee. Here lies the only island of the Tegernsee, the Ringberginsel. According to legend, it consists of a piece of rock from the nearby Leonhardstein, which the devil once dropped at this spot. Furthermore, many hundreds of years ago, evil robber barons are said to have lived on the island. However, a violent earthquake supposedly put an end to the wild goings-on. Shortly after entering Ringsee, we turn right at the bus stop into the street "Am See". Follow the white signpost with the green inscription „Seeweg“ until you reach the B 318 again in Bad Wiessee. There we keep to the right and drive along Spielstraß until we reach Adrian-Stoop-Straß. On this road we pass the lakeside promenade and the iodine-sulphur baths of Bad Wiessee. We stay on the main road (Wilhelminastra;e) until we reach Anton-Von-Rieppel-Stra;e and finally the Deutsche Alpenstra;e again. Here we follow the blue-yellow signpost with the number 32 to the right again. On the cycle path along the B 318 we cycle past the casino of Bad Wiessee to Gut Kaltenbrunn. After a short break in the beer garden of the country inn, we continue to Gmund. At the traffic lights we turn right onto the B 307 and are now once again on the „Via Bavarica Tyrolensis“. Via Sankt Quirin we cycle back to Tegernsee. At the town hall we keep to the right and return to Tegernsee Castle. Finally, we can explore Lake Tegernsee once again from the water with a boat tour.
