From the bus stop in Neder Neustift, walk between the Zegger and Montana apartment houses to the road behind them. Turn left, and follow this road into the Pinnis Valley (Pinnistal), as it makes its way through the quaint village of Neder, heading toward the mountains in the background. After crossing a bridge over a stream, turn left, following the hiking signs for Herzebner Almwirt. Upon arriving at a second bridge, continue straight, on a path that now narrows and is closed to most traffic, continuing to follow hiking signs.
Continue following this forest road along the creek, passing plenty of mountain restaurants along the way: Herzebner Almwirt, Issingeralm, Pinnisalm, and the Karalm. At the Karalm, the route transitions from the forest road as the trail crosses over the stream once again, and begins to climb away from it with intention. Following a series of switchbacks, the ascent eases up a bit, while continuing to gain altitude.
After a short traverse, the trail steepens once again for the last push to the Pinnisjoch saddle. From here, the hut should be visible to the right, and it's just a short walk to the Innsbrucker Hut.
