Rolling green meadows: Anyone who thinks of the world-famous Streif, will probably associate it with the downhill race in Kitzbühel. In summer, however, the world cup circuit shows its gentler and less well known side. There’s more to the Streif than meets the eye - fun for the whole family is guaranteed!

In Kitzbühel’s summer hiking world, most people enjoy the Streif in the other direction. The finish area becomes the start of the hike, and the start hut your destination, with a skier pose photo in the start gate at the top, to prove you made it.

In summer hikers take about two and a half hours to tackle the 860 vertical meters or take the path around the side of the steep route.

Along the route there are four infotainment screens, giving hikers the Streif experience at the Hausbergkante, Steilhang, Mausefalle and the start hut. Numerous TV recordings and films give visitors an insight into the most difficult downhill course in the world.

Tip: There are guided Streif hikes every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The KitzMountain Guides lead the way while telling stories and interesting facts about the race track - participation is free with a valid lift ticket.

The 'Sommererlebnis Streif' (Streif Summer Experience) is a newly built theme trail, along the panorama trail at the top of the Hahnenkamm. Along the route are 9 play stations for the kids, each themed after a different part of the Hahnenkamm race course.

You can enjoy some refreshements at the Seidlalm and since summer 2019 also mountain bikers can ride the newly opened Bike Trail Hahnenkamm.
