Turn-by-turn directions
Today's stage of the hiking route "From glacier to wine" is part of the Styrian circular hiking trail, the Hemma pilgrimage trail from Admont to Gurk and the regional trail No. 11. We leave Murau to the south over the Mur bridge in the direction of the train station. Before we get to the train station we cross the railroad tracks and follow the small road to the left until we get behind the Murau Beer - Logistics Center back on the road in the direction of Laßnitzbach. We follow the road to the right and keep to the local hiking trail no. 11.
At a fork in the road we again keep to the right and walk along the farm access road past the farmsteads Joslbauer and Döller to the farmstead vlg. Grillschmied. Here we continue along the Landesrundwanderweg, which runs in the same direction. Soon after a spring we come to a large, gently sloping meadow with a prominent high seat on the right. Here we must not follow the recognizable road downhill, but keep half-left towards the barbed wire fence at the edge of the forest. Approximately opposite the high seat we find a crossing over the barbed wire fence, where our path also takes its further course.
As we continue our descent, paths, forest tracks and old sunken paths take turns. Since there are some unexpected forks in between, we have to keep our eyes open until we reach St. Lambrecht. After crossing the Kühbach over the Hohe Brücke (high bridge), we go uphill again for a short while, then we turn right and walk past a magnificent old lime tree downhill to the monastery of St. Lambrecht, the cultural heart of the Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park. We remain true to the nature park on our next stage to Neumarkt.
