Distance 19.8 km
This hike runs from Stadl an der Mur, situated directly on the famous Murradweg (cycle path), towards Kreischberg, the well-known world championship mountain and ski resort. From your starting point in the district of Steindorf, you will soon pass a historical wooden mill, the Reitermühle, situated by the Lunzenbach. The Reitermühle is fully functional: water from the stream runs via a wooden supply pipe (“Uaschen”) onto the “Kümpfe ” of the mill wheel from a drop of one and a half metres. Demonstrations by arrangement in July and August provide an insight into this slice of regional farming tradition. The route continues up towards Kreischberg, a well-known ski resort and mecca for the region's freestylers. From the top of the Kreischberg, the route begins to descend, sometimes comfortably, sometimes more steeply, until reaching some mountain huts, which are serviced during the summer. From here, we continue down to St. Lorenzen am Kreischberg. On certain days from June to August, you can take the gondola lift for a more comfortable descent.

- Sturdy footwear with high-grip soles, protection against the rain, the cold and the sun, enough drink, hiking maps, emergency equipment (dressings, blister pads, etc.)
