Ökoregion Kaindorf Water & Wine Tour with Vockenberg Loop
The almost 30-kilometre tour takes us from Kaindorf via the pilgrimage site Maria Fieberbründl to Tierwelt Herberstein and back, with numerous wine taverns along the way.
A bike tour for the senses! Culinary, historical and scenic highlights are offered by the Water and Wine Tour, which starts and ends in Kaindorf. Several historic buildings, including a pilgrimage church, several chapels and two castles (Herberstein and Schielleiten) can be explored on this circular route as well as delicacies for our palate. Numerous wine taverns and restaurants are just waiting to be visited by us and offer regional delicacies. All those who love flora and fauna should plan a detour to the Herberstein Animal World with its garden castle! And for those who want to taste their way through the region, there is the Höfler oil mill with farm shop.
Author’s recommendation
The baroque Schielleiten Castle and its grounds are well worth a detour!

Turn-by-turn directions
Ideally, you should start at the multi-purpose hall in Kaindorf, as there is plenty of free parking available there, and there are also e-charging stations and a large overview board of the region. The route follows the B54 towards Graz for a short distance, and after only a few hundred metres there is the first opportunity for a stop at the Höfler oil mill. The circular route continues via Vockenberg to Maria Fieberbründl, where there is a pilgrimage church. The tour continues via the Fieberbründlweg to Herberstein, to the zoo of the same name with its castle and castle garden. You then cycle on past the next castle. The baroque Schielleiten Castle with its large grounds and many ponds invites you to take a short break and have a picnic. Via the Tiefenbacher wine road, past a few wine taverns, it takes you to Hofkirchen, where there is a delightful church in the district of St. Stefan. A side road brings you back to the starting point.
