This hike offers unique views, to the south to the Dürrenstein ridge with Almkogel, into the Sengsen mountains and the Kalkalpen National Park.

Author’s recommendation

The short climb up to the mountain pasture is well worth it. Here the view opens up to the east to Ötscher, Hochkar and Sonntagberg, and to the north you can see far into the Mühlviertel. Water-cooled drinks are available at the alp, even when the hut is closed.

From the centre of the village, turn east, past the Seyerlehner farm, then continue uphill on an asphalt road past the Weger and Kleinseibelstein farmhouses. After the latter, you turn left and reach the Großkrift farmhouse via an idyllic hunter's path. The trail then climbs moderately along the mountain ridge to the alpine pasture.
