Up to the Wehlenstein with its magnificent view of the National Park, past the legendary Vorkastell and along the little river Traun - a peaceful tour for nature fans.
The route is very varied, sometimes with views, sometimes deep forest, some parts lead through wet sections where the moor is gradually reclaiming its space. Romantic stream passages, paths between boulders and the Rosselhalde, here the hiker is surrounded by the sounds of the forest and the water, and nothing else - absolutely nothing.
Those who are interested in the legends tied to sites along the trail and in the vicinity will find more information here.
Enjoy a freshly caught trout halfway along the trail at Forellenhof Trauntal.
Rest stopsForellenhof Trauntal
Paths close to nature that require surefootedness. In some places no cell phone reception. Several short sections can be quite muddy after rain, so please make sure you wear suitable footwear. When hiking, just pay attention to which kilometer you are on and forward this to the rescue control center if necessary, so that it is easy to find it in the forest.

Information for dog owners:
Level of difficulty: medium to medium difficult, little tarmac, many narrow paths, well suited for an adventurous dog walk over uneven terrain
Distracting stimuli: Over the course of the Trauntal-Heights-Trail, country or district roads have to be crossed from time to time, roads can sometimes be heard, but this does not detract from the hiking experience. There is a medium volume of hikers on the premium trail, so you should expect to encounter oncoming hikers.
Water/shade: The Trauntal-Heights-Trail leads mainly through wooded terrain. Direct access to water is available to hikers and their four-legged friends at various points on the route.
Rubbish bins/cleanliness: On the Trauntal-Heights-Trail, the principle of “what you take on the trail goes home with you” is applied as far as possible. There are only rubbish bins available at selected points. The waste from dogs and humans should not be left on/along the trail so that the enjoyment of the trail is maintained for all

Sturdy footwear is essential because dirt on the shoes is just part of this tour. If you have a packed lunch with you or get a filled picnic bag from a local restaurant, you will find some nice places for a picnic along the way.
