Mettlenalp – Stächelegg – Napf Circular Walk

The Napf summit is the highest lookout point between the Emmental and the Entlebuch. There are no roads or cable cars to the summit; the only way to reach the restaurant at the top is on foot or by bike. You can climb up from the Bernese, as well as the Lucerne side. The quickest way to get up from the Mettlenalp is via a steep path. But this circular walk is recommended for those walkers who are looking for something a little less strenuous. Like the direct route, it begins on the Mettlenalp but then goes up via the Stächelegg Alpine restaurant. A stop at this friendly pub is definitely worthwhile, especially on fine weather days when there will be hardly any space left in front of or inside the mountain hotel on the Napf. The return route then leads steeply down on the direct path to the starting point on the Mettlenalp.
