Start
Turn-by-turn directions
We start in Bozen/Bolzano (260m) and take the bus to the village of Karersee/Carezza (1620m). Here we take the chair lift Paolina to the Paolina hut (2125m) where the easy mountain hike will start.
We will hike on hiking paths at the foot of the Rosengarten group which are parts of the Dolomites. We will cross these parts twice, pass the Christomannos monument (a famous promoter of the alpine tourism) and then we will reach the Rotwand hut (2283m) after 3 hours.
Here we can have lunch or make lunch break with a panoramic view to the highest mountains and last glaciers of the Dolomites.
We wil lthen hike back to the monument and straight back to the Paolina hut and chair lift, which will bring us back to the village.
OPTIONAL: The name "Karersee" comes from the famous lake which has blue-green-turquoise coloured water and is a hot-spot for tourists. We pass there anyway by bus and can visit it.
