This long and demanding hike takes us from Bayrischzell via the Sudelfeld and numerous peaks down into the Inntal valley to Oberaudorf.

Wonderful views, an interesting ridge walk and a short via ferrata await us on our long tour through the Mangfall Mountains. From Bayrischzell we climb in two hours first through dense forest and later over alpine pastures up to the Upper Sudelfeld and Vogelsang. From there, our hike becomes a little more challenging; the north-facing, steep ascent to the Kleiner Traithen is secured in some places. After the exciting ascent, we are rewarded with an impressive view down to Bayrischzell. We then continue to the Gro&szlig Traithen, the highest point of our tour. The panoramic view is accordingly far-reaching, reaching from the Allgäu Alps to the glaciers of the Hohe Tauern. Now follows a long ridge hike through mountain pines üover the Steilner Grat. From the Himmelmoos-Alm we climb to the eastern summit of the Brünnstein with its chapel. The descent takes us via the Dr. Julius Mayr path, an easy via ferrata, down to the Brünnsteinhaus. The steep Brunntal demands a lot from our legs

Für mich eine wunderbare Tour! TOP! Geeignet vor allem für Bahnfahrer, die hier von einem Bahnhof zum anderen gehen können. Konditionell muss schon ein bisschen was da sein (großzügig Proviant mitnehmen! Ich habe – ohne Einkehren - außerdem 4 Liter Trinkwasser gebraucht, hätten aber eher 5 sein sollen). Dafür wird man belohnt mit tollen Panoramablicken von verschiedenen Gipfeln. Ein schöner Kammweg ist auch dabei. Die Wege sind überwiegend über Stock und Stein, also Trittsicherheit und gutes Schuhwerk mitbringen. Mehrere Stellen sind drahtseilversichert, da sind Konzentration und Trittsicherheit gefragt. Ein paar Eisenklammern als Treppen sind auch dabei. Alle Kraxlstellen wurden allerdings auch von Kindern begangen. Hat man nicht gerade wirklich große Höhenangst, sind keine speziellen Kletterfähigkeiten erforderlich. Die Tour bietet somit auch Abwechslung. Wem es nach dem Steilner Grat bzw. der Himmelmoos-Alm (keine Bewirtung!) zu viel wird, der kann auch den Weg zur Brünnstein-Kapelle auslassen und gleich Richtung Oberaudorf weitergehen. Allerdings verpasst man damit die meiner Meinung nach schönste Aussicht der Tour. Achtung kurz nach dem Vogelsang: der Weg führt unmittelbar danach rechts nach unten. Die Markierung lag bei mir im Schatten, so dass die vorausgehende Gruppe und ich diese übersahen und zunächst geradeaus weitergingen, wo es dann schon etwas gefährlich wurde. Ich war letzten Samstag bei 23° und schönem Wetter. Man kann jetzt nicht sagen, dass es überlaufen war. Aber einsam war es auch nicht. Wer Einsamkeit genießen will (Wanderpartner sollte dann aber wegen Unfallgefahr schon dabei sein), geht nach Möglichkeit eher unter der Woche. Warme Empfehlung.
