The rocks of our region are evidence of the development of the earth and the geological processes that have shaped it.

Rocks are important raw materials and building materials or contain valuable ores and precious stones. Rocks shape the landscape, are the basic material for the soils lying on them and thus also influence their use by humans. In short: rocks are our basis of life - literally the ground beneath our feet.

You can learn more about basalt, limestone & Co on a hike through the Krahloch Geopark. 14 stations with illustrative material and easy-to-understand, colorful display boards provide information about geology, rocks, mining and the natural environment. Exciting is also a look into the dark world of the miners in the old roof slate mine or an excursion into the habitat stream. The rocks that line the path invite you to feel and touch them.

The circular trail starts directly behind the parking lot of the Krahloch Geopark. It can be walked in both directions. You follow the course of the trail along natural paths and can get an idea of various rocks along the way.14 stations with easy-to-understand, colorful display boards, along the approximately 1 km long circular trail, provide you with information about geology, rocks, mining and nature. The circular trail through the Krahloch Geopark runs partly on the 11th stage of the Saar-Hunsrück Climb premium hiking trail, on the dream loop "Between the Forests".
