In South Tyrol there are some places with earth pyramids, the most famous ones will probably be at Ritten. But not everyone knows that nature has also formed a small number of earth pyramids above Terenten which were created after a great storm in 1837. Further above the natural spectacle we come across the lovingly restored grain mills of the Teren Valley which recall the hard life of the mountain farmers. Afterwards we follow a pleasant ascent along a forest road up to Gols, the highest point of our hike with a wonderful view of the Dolomites and a playground for kids. From here on we go through a dense spruce forest which provides pleasant shade in summer, back down to the Winnebach valley where we meet the Astnerbergalm which invites us for a break. After this refreshment we comfortably return to the starting point along the wide valley path.

Author’s recommendation

The descent leads past the Astnerbergalm. A stop is highly recommended as it is a wonderful place to eat.
