A not-too-strenuous through the woods and fields behind Emmersdorf, an observation tower (can't go up), and the best sandy beach on the Donau.
easy
Distance 8.9 km
The best place to start this hike is actually at the parking lot by Schloss Luberegg, so you are close to the car when you finish at the beach. Enjoy the walk through Emmersdorf, and the gently upward-sloping trail into the woods and hills behind Emmersdorf. There are some nice open fields at the top that are good for a picnic. Come back down through the tiny village of Rantenberg, and look at the Dachberg Warte watch tower. Unfortunately, the tower is cloed and you can't go up. The hike down from the watchtower is a little steep at times, but not technical. Then, along the trail on the way back, go just past Schloss Luberegg and then peel off into the woods towards the river to find Flusstrand Luberegg -- the best beach on the Donau with soft, squishy-between-your-toes sand.
