The newly designed bird theme trail takes us through the bird diversity in the south of the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park. Highlights are wide meadow orchards and the romantic Schönauklamm gorge.
Starting from the starting point of the bird theme trail, the trail heads south. The circular trail leads along the bird theme trail through the idyllic hill country, forests and meadows of the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park. The beautiful views of the communities of Pöllau and Pöllauberg and the romantic Schönauklamm gorge are the highlights of this circular hike.

The pure walking time is over 3 hours - depending on the time spent at the information boards, at least 1 hour should be added.

Platzerl am Bach (start of the bird theme trail) - GH Schrank - Schönauklamm - Platzerl am Bach
- From the "Platzerl am Bach" at the starting point of the bird theme trail (next to Retter Reisen) we start in a westerly direction, cross the Safenbach bridge and turn left along the asphalt road.
- Here we meet the bird theme trail and follow both markings to the fork at GH Schrank.
- From the Schrank inn, our hike continues along the bird theme trail and the white-blue-white markings across the Schönauklamm gorge.
- At the exit of the gorge, we meet the red-white-red signpost no. 945 to Pöllau, which we follow to the Schönau landmark.
- Once here, turn right and follow the yellow dot markings back to the "Platzerl am Bach" on the Safen.

- Before starting the hike, check the possibilities for refreshments, including opening times, or pack appropriate food.
- A good pair of hiking boots is a good companion and should never be missing.Emergency equipment (blister plasters!) belongs in every rucksack.
- It is always advisable to dress according to the "onion system".
- Don't forget rain gear, sunglasses and a water bottle, as well as a hiking map, pocket knife and headlamp.
