Today you may be walking past a few different areas where cows graze. Although generally very docile and used to walkers, keep your distance and never turn your back on a cow that is behaving strangely or aggressive. Be particularly vigilant around cows with calves.
Always allow plenty of time for your hike. The walking times indicated do not include breaks. Breaks for photos and a rest need to be added to the specified times.
Make sure you find out about current weather conditions and keep an eye on weather changes. Thunderstorms can gather very quickly in the Alps.
Do not leave the designated hiking trails!

0.00km - Begin on the wide gravel path. The Gasthof Wiesenhof Mountain Inn should be on your right. Take the RIGHT trail and follow the signs to Halleranger Alm, Halleranger Haus and Pfeishütte.
2.6km – The trail will take you to the Gleischhöhe, make a right turn and you’ll come to a crossroads. Take the path that leads to the LEFT, continue towards Halleranger Haus and follow this gravel path for around 10km. Ignore all the paths leading off to the sides.
12.6km – You will reach Kastenalm Lodge. Here, go over the gravel path onto a narrower trail. Follow this trail along the Lafatscher river to Hallerangerhaus Lodge.
17.3km – You have reached Hallerangerhaus Hut.
