Rauschberg walk around

Short and relaxing walk on the top of mountain Rauschberg in Ruhpolding.

As we had our accommodation in this region we got the Chiemgau Card. With this card you have many benefits, also taking this cable car up and down for free. (adults 22Euro, kids (5 to 14 years) 9 Euro). You only have to pay for the dog (4,50 Euro).

You can take your car to the cable car station with a big car park free of charge. The bus station is in front of the cable car valley station.

Just a hint, if you will use the car park I recommend to park on the outer edge of the car park.

We parked in the middle in front of another car. When we came down with the cable car the guide in the cable car was laughing when he looked at the car park. Some cars have been boxed by a third car parking behind the second card. One of these cars was ours. So we were lucky as after only 30 minutes the car in front of us drove away.

At the mountain stations just turns right and have a look down to the Ruhpolding region.

In front of the mountain station is a layout map of the trails. At this map take the rocky way left uphill. This is the way to the summit cross. Here you have another great view down to the region of upper Bavaria. Normally you can also see the south region of the Chiemsee.

You see Adam’s hand which is the next destination. Passing starting point of para and hang gliders (if you are lucky you can watch them start).

Next you come to a wooden hobgoblin. In the history of that region are a lot of mystic stories, here you can find some.

Now you go down and through the gate. Note: after that gate is an open meadow field where cattle walking around freely. Take you dog on lead.

This is the way to the highest point of Rauschberg. On half way we turn right down to the way you can see from that point. The first part of this way can be a bit tricky. Watch out where you put your feet so you do not slip.

At the bottom we go right uphill. You are passing the restaurant where you can get nice Bavarian food and cold drinks.

Then you go to the mountain station and take the cable car down.
