This route can be even longer. We could start it even above the village of Col, hiking all the way up and by the panoramic edge of Trnovski gozd. Very nice!

The proposal is to start the hike anywhere below Sinji vrh. On the crossroads, marked on the map, we chose the left cart road. Reaching the farm a bit south, we continue in the SE direction. There, a nice, grassy cart-road goes, but tourst trail marks are almost missing. Further to the SE, it goes through a nice beech forest, following a shallow valley. At the end we hit the road, coming from the left, from Kovk village.
Just before the crossroads we must find the marked trail towards the right, on Trnovski gozd edge. It goes up, the trail is well beaten and nice and in 10 min we reach the panoramic edge and the main marked trail along it. There we turn right.
Along the edge we hike towards the NW, only gently ascending and descending. It's worth to go on some rocky bumps, offering the best panorama.
The next characteristing point is the place on the edge, where the marked trail from the Vipava valley (from the left) comes up. On that crossroads we are only some 10 minutes away from our car. But we shall continue along the edge, towards the NW.
The trail then crosses the forested slopes right of the ridge, so we detour a few ridge bumps. We reach above a nice farm in the grassy valley and continue around the next grassy ridge bump. We have quite some altitude, so the next stretch is a considerable descent. The famous Otlica rock window is in the forested, a bit lower part of the ridge.
On the main trail, there's the explanatory table, a nice mench and the view on the natural rock window. You can of course also descend just into the hole, but the continuation of our hike goes by the main trail. We follow the main ridge (towards the right goes the trail to a rock spiral - a sculpture). After some 5 minutes of walk we must then keep right, towards the village of Otlica. That stretch of the trail may not be marked well, but the direction is obvious - towards the north, where we see the village church. Before it, we shall hit the asphalt at the village cemetery.
Hopefully, bikes are waiting us on the parking place. The return is then quick and easy, walking by the asphalt main road is less attractive.
