Mont Liausson, Salagou and Moureze Views

This is one of two routes to get to the top of Mt Liausson. The 535m high ridge gives magnificent views of Lac du Salagou to the north and the Cirque de Moureze to the south.

If staying with us at L'Olivier (www.olivier-neffies.com) go north up the D15 to Cabrieres, keep going until you reach the D908, turn left and go about 6km until you reach the D148 on your right, take this road through Salasc, take the Route du lac out of Salasc going north towards Roques, keep on and it will bend to the right and be signed to Liausson. Just before you arrive in Liausson is a car park on your right. Park here and take the clearly marked path heading south west towards the mountain. Just keep following this path as it ascends. Near the top are some steep scrambly sections and you need to be reasonably fit to negotiate these. However, the reward is fantastic as you walk 2km along the ridge with views of Lake Salagou and of Moureze and the Cirque. Finally you descend back to Liausson  (this is slightly less steep than the ascent, and you can of course come up and go down this way but miss the circular walk). In our view the outstanding walk within easy reach of Neffies, allow plenty of time to enjoy. 

There is also an alternative route up from Moureze but we have sometimes found the path washed away in parts and a real slippery scramble.
