Starting in delightful Moelfre, this walk follows cliffs and inland routes, with wide sea views and prehistoric archeology. The Lligwy Bay is fantastic and contains ancient geological features in addition to being a great sandy bay for bathing and exploring the rocks.

You will also pass the memorial to The Royal Charter - an awful maritime disiaster as well as the RNLI Heritage Centre.

Another surf & Turf walk taken in a clockwise direction July 2021. The walk is easy, but as of July 2021 the coastal path leaving Moelfre has been diverted due to unstable cliffs, which means a walk along the main road before turning back across farmland and caravan sites then reaching the coastline again.

Plenty of sea birdlife and in summer months seaside activities. The attraction of this walk for me was the prehistoric & ancient constructions - free to visit; Lligwy Bay and the coast line from there back to Moelfre.

Autorentipp

Once you leave Moelfre there are limited facilities ( I expect out of season none), so take drinks  / snacks with you.

Sicherheitshinweise

While the cliffs are not very high, there is still a danger if you walk too close to the edge.

Some of the route follows roads with no footpaths.

Some of the route is the footpath alongside the busy A5025, which you will need to cross twice.

The access road to Traeth Bychan was busy with 4x4 s & boat trailers, drivers seemingly more concentrated on their boats & trailers than other road users.

Weitere Infos und Links

The route we were following was meant to cut across a field at point B, but having cimbed the stile, the route was almost impassable due to heavily overgrown hedgerow, so we continued up the lane to the main road.
