A fairly flat ride from Watermead Country Park, north of Leicester, to Everards Meadows, south of Leicester, and back again. The ride mostly uses The National Cycle Route 48 and Route 6 and goes straight through the city. It is nearly all off road and very easy to follow.
Strecke 33,9 km
Around 20 miles, this is a suburban route that mainly follows The National Cycle Route 6. Starting at the main car park at the north end of Watermead Country Park, the route makes its way on an off-road, well surfaced track to Leicester, passing through Abbey Park where there are toilets and refreshments. After the park there is a short section on minor roads followed by a Pelican crossing over a major road. After that, the route joins the Great Central Way off-road track to Everards Meadows where there are toilets and refreshments before returning back to the start using the same route. If Everards Meadows is a bit busy you can continue on Route 6, a short distance, and picnic, as we did, in the fields overlooking the river/canal.
This is a mainly flat route that can be easily used by by families as the tracks are well sign posted and easy to follow.
SicherheitshinweiseThere is a short section between Abbey Park and The Great Central Way that uses a couple of back roads. This is followed by a Pelican Crossing over a main road. Also care needs to be taken along the short section of canal before reaching the Great Central Way.
