A summit with a few detours! I wanted to do three peaks but the way between Grosse Donnerkogel and the next one was impossible to do alone with my dog. We hence backtracked and went back down to Gosausee, taking another little detour in the last bit, just to see.

Strecke 10,8 km
The first part from Gosausee is a nice forest trail not too steep but with a nice bit of up. Then you meet a wider path that will bring you to a couple hutte. After passing the hutte, the path goes up a bit to the beginning of a very cool looking klettersteig. This path is quite wide with gravel. Then it goes down a bit to get to a crossroad where you start the actual ascend. Good hiking shoes are definitely a must! This part, all the way to the summit, is very rocky, steep and often with a hand-wire to help a bit. You will sweat but the view is AMAZING!!!

Hike to a rocky peak with a fantastic view!
Wegbeschreibung
From the parking lot closest to Gosausee: take the path at the back of the parking lot. When you get to the lake, take a right towards Gablonzer Hutte and go up!
Keep right at the fork (left would bring you in a rock garden) and keep going towards the Gablonzer Hutte. Once you reach the wider path, go towards the Hutte and take a left on the trail towards Große Donnerkogel. It will bring you up a ridge where a via Ferrara starts. Keep going straight until you reach a crossroad between two paths. Go left towards the summit and then make sure you look well at the trail markers, if the weather is bad it would be easy to miss!
The way down is the same than up (don’t look at my map for that... I took some detours)
