Starting near the Wallace Arms at Featherstone/Rowfoot this route goes to Coanwood, over the Lambley Viaduct and then back alongside the South Tyne river.

This route starts near to the Wallace Arms NE490JF at Featherstone/Rowfoot before going to Coanwood then on to the the Lambley viaduct. This was completed in 1852 by Sir George Barclay Bruce who went on to build railways and harbours all over the world. We then return alongside the South Tyne river to Featherstone bridge near to the castle and thenback to the start via Park Village. This is a wonderful walk through woodland and alongside an ancient river taking in the amazing viaduct which is an architectural wonder.
