Capital Ring, S12 - Highgate to Stoke Newington

Section 12 of the London Ring from Highgate to Stoke Newington. The London Ring does not go from station to station but as I am walking I am going to do it from the closest rail or underground stations.

The first part of this route to Finsbury Park is an old railway track now mostly forest or green open land. The pathway is flat and fairly firm;  then the paths through Finsbury Park are tarmac (and the London Ring is well signposted). The Finsbury Park cafe was nice and had a good selection of food and cakes. The second part of the walk after Finsbury Park is mostly along New River and by the reservoirs, there is a lot of newly built flats here and there is a mix of existing narrow quite muddy paths and new wide landscaped tarmac pathways.
