A lengthy walk but as I had covered some of this previously I thought I could speed through these bits.  It was an easy to navigate walk because significant sections followed lengthy well signposted tracks minimising the need to keep referring to the map.
Highgate Woods were beautifully cool with one or two steep sections.  I lost my way as there are so many tracks although believe this route is correct.  The Parklands Walk was a particularly heavily used section and clearly enjoyed by those living locally.  Just occsionally there were impressive views across to Canary Wharf.  The views become even more impressive from Finsbury Park and then go out of view as you are diverted along The New River which is neither new or a river.  All is revealed on the information boards at the wetlands where there is currently a huge programme to build homes.  At the wetlands and a little later on at Abbey Mills are two impressive Victorian water/sewerage related temples.
Heading to Stoke Newington the church spire is an impressive landmark.  Clissold Park was well used by the community.  Onward to Abney Cemetry cum Arboretum with a number of rare species.  The contribution to wildlife is impressive.
Descending through more parkland takes you to The Lea or is it Lee Valley.  Drainage is complicated with river and canal and eventually the Olympic Park comes into view.  Now the home of west Ham football the whoe area is undergoing a huge redevelopment providing many new homes which will continue in Stratford till 2035.
The Greenway provides the route for much of the last section.  With an interesting history and a unique fragrance it is another linear park that is well used as a designated quiet route.
Leave the Greenway to make that final push towards London City Airport and finishing up following a rather shabby section of the Thames Path on the north bank of the Thames - nowhere near as pristine as the south bank path.  Descend via lift to the tunnel floor near the Woolwich ferry and complete the route and pray the lift doesnt play up!
