Haltwhistle Walking Festival
Welcome to the Haltwhistle Walking Festival, in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall country...
This festival runs bi-annually in Spring and Autumn and presents a fantastic selection of organised walks as well as much more besides.
The festival organisers have developed a set of 22 walks known as The Haltwhistle Rings, which were originally drawn up nearly twenty years ago. Members of the Festival committee and friends are continually re-walking and updating the Rings and updated the walk descriptions to ensure they are correct now that paths have been re-routed, gates replaced, new buildings built and old ones knocked down.
More information may be found on the Haltwhistle Walking Festival website.
To give you a taster of the festival, the organisers have made two of the Haltwhistle Rings available as self-guided walks using Outdooractive. GPS-enabled route maps and descriptions are available in the Contents tab, above.

About the Haltwhistle Walking Festival
The bi-annual Haltwhistle Walking Festival has gone from strength to strength in the 17 years it has been running, gathering loyal walkers and putting together 34 bi-annual festivals. A team of experienced volunteers has been built, to lead each and every Festival walk. All are trained in First Aid and navigation skills, and each one brings a different set of skills, expertise and local knowledge to make every adventure “more than just a walk”.
The festival would not be possible without these volunteers, and also without its generous supporters:
Independent Hostels UK: Representing 440 accommodation providers, and larger than the YHA and the SYHA combined - Last year they supported 27 walking festivals across the country and this year they are supporting the Haltwhistle Walking Festival.
Other supporters include:
