Even though Geilo is high in the mountains, Geilo Beach is frequently used by locals and visitors throughout the summer. The beach has a volleyball net, barbeque area in connection with a lean-to, building with changing room and toilet, and large parking area within walking distance.
Right by the parking area is a fun bicycle trail, and the beach is located in connection with the Ustedalsfjorden lake round trail. If you would like a different activity than swimming, we can recommend renting a SUP, canoe, or boat, that are available in the area around the lake.
This nice sandy beach is an excellent stopping point as you walk/bike around Ustedalsfjorden, 10km

You can walk from the city center for about 3km to reach the beach. We advice you to walk on the touristroad Ustedalsfjordenrunt.
Anfahrt
On foot or with bike
Walk from Geilo center towards Geilojordet, from here you can use the wide hiking trail around Ustedalsfjorden which leads to Geilo Beach, among other places. It is easy to find and possible with a wheelbarrow, bicycles and light wheelchairs. Length from the center is around 4km.
From the Vestlia side, you can use the same hiking trail that goes around the entire Ustedalsfjord and a walk over the threshold (low-lying bridge over the water) right behind Vestlia Resort and bicycle park. From the entrance to the hiking trail it is around 4km, from the hotel and Geilo Summer Park it is around 1km.
By car
From the center of Geilo, drive west, in the direction of Bergen around 1.4 km to the Fossgårdvegen road/Fossgårdsfeltet residential area. The sign to the beach is, unfortunately, destroyed by snow removal, but you can follow the signs toward “Ustedalen Overnatting” from the RV7 highway. After Ustedalen Overnatting, take the road to the left down toward the parking area by Geilo Beach. Please respect that it is not permitted to overnight in a camper/tent in the parking area
